This year’s annual AAOS meeting is only a week away! Have you started planning out your schedule yet?
With so many interesting sessions on everything from the hottest ICD-10 codes to discussing controversies in shoulder surgery to even using social media to better yourself as a surgeon, you’re likely having trouble picking which presentations to attend.
As you might expect, our eVisit team is most excited about this year’s digital health sessions. We’ve picked out our 3 must-attend presentations at the intersection of digital health and orthopedics. All three take place at AAOS’ Electronic Skills Pavilion (Booth 4402), and are free to attend. Just make sure you get there early to grab a seat — these presentations are likely to fill up quick!

Hottest New Apps for Orthopaedic Surgeons.
With over a million medical apps currently in the Apple and Android stores, it’s overwhelming to sort through the options and find valuable tools for orthopaedics. Instead of doing all the research yourself, get helpful recommendations from Dr. Orrin Franko, founder of TopOrthoApps.com and Lead Editor for the Journal of Mobile Technology in Medicine. Whether you’re an orthopaedic surgeon, resident, or student, you’ll get clinically-vetted app recommendations to improve your knowledge and practice. Don’t forget to bring your mobile device with you so that you can download any apps and leave the session ready to go!
This session takes place Wednesday, March 25 3:30 - 4:15 PM and Friday, March 27 2:30 - 3:15 PM. Can’t make it to the session? Make sure to check out Dr. Franko’s website for the best apps in orthopaedics.

EHR and Meaningful Use for the Small Orthopaedic Office.
EHR and Meaningful Use is still a huge hurdle for orthopaedics, especially surgeons working in small practices. How do you pick the right EHR for your practice? How to you integrate your EHR into your workflow, and make your practice truly electronic? How do you keep everything going smoothly during the transition and afterwards?
Here to answer all your questions is Dr. A Herbert Alexander, former chairman and director of the orthopaedic surgery residence training program at the naval medical center, and associate editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Orthopedics. In 2002, Dr. Alexander opened his own practice, Alexander Orthopaedics, which he has successfully made into a completely electronic office.
Hear proven strategies on taking your practice paperless and meeting meaningful use requirements. This session takes place Thursday, March 26 2:30 - 3:15 PM.

Application of Wearable Technology in Orthopaedic Surgery.
Interested in the latest wearable tech but not sure how to make the most of it? Wondering how to capture and actually use all of that patient data?
In this presentation, Dr. Christian Veillette will walk you through the latest open source tools and initiatives like RedCAP, NIHPromis, and DADOS and how they can help capture electronic data to improve patient outcomes and research. Dr. Veillette is a practicing surgeon at Toronto Western Hospital, Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, and the Associate Editor and Director of Technology for the online Orthopaedic resource center, Orthopaedic Web Links.
This session is scheduled for Thursday, March 26 1:30 - 2:15 PM. Don’t miss out!
