Co-founder of Arizona Telemedicine Startup serves as Medical Director
Phoenix, Ariz. - eVisit, a telemedicine software company based in Arizona, is proud to sponsor the 2016 Phoenix Marathon, hosted by the City of Mesa. On Feb. 27, the fourth annual Phoenix Marathon is expected to bring together more than 10,000 runners from all 50 states and 19 different countries, and over 30,000 spectators. Dr. Glen McCracken, Co-Founder and President of eVisit, will be serving as Medical Director for the event.
Jamie Campbell, Race Director for the Phoenix Marathon, called the marathon "a race for runners, created by runners." The event is specially designed to showcase the City of Mesa and highlight the community. Along with a beautiful course and exciting rewards, the race benefits runners through the Phoenix Marathon Foundation. The Foundation was created to educate aspiring runners, and has pledged more than $80,000 in scholarship money to recipients.
eVisit, 2015 winner of the Arizona Innovation Challenge and a top healthcare technology startup in the Phoenix area, is excited to be involved in the marathon. "We are proud to sponsor these wonderful athletes and support a world-class event,” says Dr. Glen McCracken said. “The Phoenix marathon continues to grow each year and has become an important event for our local community.”
The Phoenix Marathon has quickly become one of the top qualifying Boston Qualifying Races, with over 16% of last year's runners qualifying for the 2015 Boston Marathon. The Phoenix Marathon is also USATF-Certified, and sanctioned as an Olympic Trials Qualifier for the half-marathon, with two men and two women qualifying in 2015.
